HEALTH ALTERATIONS I – NUR 1220 :
Credit Hours: 3 Total Contact Hours: 48 hrs.
This course is designed to provide the student with knowledge of Alterations of Ingestion, Digestion, Metabolism, Elimination, and Fluid/Electrolyte regulation. The major focus is directed at meeting the health care needs of the adult through utilization of the nursing process. The student will be expected to integrate principles of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the digestive and genitourinary systems in the nursing process. Components of pharmacology, nutrition, and endocrine regulatory systems will be presented in this course. Consideration will also be given to the psychosocial aspects of the wellness-illness continuum.
