Migrating your Course Information Page (Welcome Page) to a Course Preview Page

Note: This is a two-step process. First you will have to locate your old Welcome Page and move it to the defaulted Public Files Folder and then using the Course Preview Page Setup Tool in Course Tools, you will set it up in WebCT 6.

Step 1. Find your Welcome Page from 4.1. Select your File Manager in Designer Tools. In the example below, this instructor located her Welcome Page in a folder she labeled Administration. If you were a good file manager, this process will be easy. If not...well...happy hunting!

When you locate your Welcome Page, it must be moved to the folder called Public Files. Select the Welcome Page and then select Move. It will direct you to the Public Files Folder.

Step 2. You will receive confirmation of the move if you get the following message. Make sure that the folder has been moved

Step 3. Using the Build Tab, click on the Manage Course link in the Designer Tools menu and select Course Preview Page Setup.

Step 4. Select the Browse for Course Preview Page to locate your old Welcome Page in the Public Folder.

When you find it, select it and then enter OK.

Step 5. After you select the OK, you will get a confirmation that shows your Course Preview Page has been uploaded to your Public Files Folder.

To edit your Course Preview Page, you must work with the file as it appears in the Public Folder. You can download it and work with it in Dreamweaver or you can edit it using the built-in html editor.
