
Course Description
REL 2000 pursues a definition of religion and introduces the student to the various approaches to an academic study of religion. Such approaches include the historical, psychological, anthropological, sociological and philosophical methods to the academic study of religion.
Methods of Instruction
The course is fully online through Blackboard, where students take tests, post discussions, and submit assignments and correspond with each other and the professor.
Tests and course organization: Students will have some brief open book chapter quizzes. You will have four tests and a final exam during the term. Most of the questions from the tests will come from practice quizzes and the textbook. Course organization will be readings and practice quizzes, discussion postings, assignments, four tests, final exam and optional visits to religious sites.
Course Requirements
Students who are new to e-learning should take BC's online readiness evaluation.
No special pre-requisites or preparation in religion needed for this course. All students should review BC's current hardware and software requirements to make sure that their computers meet BC standards. Hardware or Software requirements specific to your courses (if different from the BC standard for DL). Students who are using Blackboard for the first time should visit BC's Flexible Learning Page.
