City of Desert Park

Water Matters

Runoff ManagementResidents can visit the City’s Web site to view the Urban Runoff Management Plan. The Plan details the City’s action to protect and improve water quality of the lakes, rivers, and creeks in the region, and achieve compliance with the State Municipal Storm Water Permit.

The Urban Runoff Management Plan has been posted to allow public access and understanding of the overall efforts of the City Manager’s office to improve water quality in the City of Desert Park. Implementing the plan is one of the six objectives of the City’s Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program to help improve water quality.

The City Council approved the plan last January, and it is effective through February of 2007. At the City’s Web site, click on “City Services,” and choose “Storm Water Pollution Prevention.” See EPA Watershed Site.

Drinking WaterRegulations from the State Public Health Services Drinking Water Program and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) require all community water systems to deliver an annual Consumer Confidence Report (water quality report) to customers. The City of Desert Park Water Bureau began sending this information to all postal customers in 1996, before these regulations went into effect in 1999.

The most interesting information for most consumers is this: our drinking water supply continues to meet all state and federal regulations, without exception. This report includes other information of interest to many consumers: water quality test results; definitions; information on our sources of water supply; how to reduce exposure to lead in drinking water; and special notice for immuno-compromised persons. Copies of the report may also be ordered in Braille by calling the City Manager’s office at 626-555-1234.
