Blended Course Design and Organization
Dr. Dominique Charlotteaux

Dr. Dominique Charlotteaux has found a simple, but strategically effective way to organize her blended Teaching Diverse Populations (EDG 2701) course. Since the course is blended and she has regular campus-based contact with her students, she uses only those tools in Blackboard that are necessary for the students to complete the online requirements of the course.

Dr. Charlotteaux has organized the course with a minimum number of Folders on the Course Home Page. All of the online learning components (content such as PowerPoint and html files), discussion and assignments are built within the Learning Modules.

Like many professors, Dr. Charlotteaux integrates text book publisher content into her course. She does this through the Learning Module tool built within Blackboard. Because the Learning Module will allow instructors to select individual pieces of content and learning activities (such as discussions, assignments, and tests), an "instructional event" can be built around chapters or units using both instructor created and publisher created content.
