Connect Economics Classes to the Real World
Prefessor Greg Lindeblom

Professor Greg Lindeblom creatively uses an online toolkit to connect his Economics classes to the real world, view real-life videos, discuss current economic situations, present group works, and collaborate with students from overseas ...

Below is an screenshot of a video clip Professor Lindeblom uses in his ECO2013 class to draw real-life examples of the principles students are learning in class. He also uses videos to give historical context to subjects under discussion.

Some of the economics classes Professor Lindeblom teaches are also writing credit courses. In these classes, rather than having students submit essays to him, Professor Lindeblom has them do online discussions based on current situations. Students exchange knowledge, personal experiences, and opinions through the discussion forum, providing a more vibrant experience than simply submitting a paper to the professor. Below is an example of such an essay assignment on a discussion forum.

By using the discussion forum for course writing, Professor Lindeblom feels more environmentally "clean". Very little paper is used for syllabi, tests, exams, and essays. Below is an example of students posting in discussion forum:
