Math
Video Lectures, Problem Solving and Test Review
Professor Howard Sorkin
Professor
Howard (Howie) Sorkin has created more than 100 videos using Camtasia
for his online Elementary Algebra course. These videos include lectures
and sample solutions to problems.
In
his videos, Professor Sorkin demonstrates explanations to math problems
by using diagrams, graphics, and writings - all explained with an
audio narration.
Here
is a sample of some of his lectures:
Union/Intersection/Complement
“The
Total And We Do Not Know The Pieces”
Introduction
to Coin Problems
Professor
Sorkin has also created a series of videos that demonstrate problems
being solved:
Number
Problem
Consecutive
Integer Problem
Perimeter
Problem
These videos
were created by using Camtasia on a Tablet PC.
Links
to all of his videos are listed on his Math Course Website at http://www.broward.edu/~hsorkin/I-Math/video_links.html

Professor
Sorkin also conducts reviews for exams using a Whiteboard from a
publisher called MathZone for his online students. These are us
usually done later in the evening or on Sundays prior to an exam.

The
Whiteboard allows Professor Sorkin to demonstrate problem solution
examples and to connect one-to-one with individual students who
request assistance on a particular math problem. The review sessions
can last as long as two hours but they are voluntary on part of
the student. Students can ask questions using a built-in audio tool
or they can type in their questions. Professor Sorkin estimates
that more than 80% of his students take advantage of the review
sessions using the Whiteboard in MathZone.
